MICROCAT products are designed to provide combinations of various types of bacteria that can grow in different environments depending on the contaminants present and the particular conditions present in the soil or water.

COMPLEMENTARY SUBSTANCES TO AID DECOMPOSITION

Along with bacteria and the enzymes they themselves produce, MICROCAT microbial products may also contain added enzymes, proteins and nutrients. These are protected until they are activated in the decomposition process. The added enzymes act immediately upon contact to break down large organic molecules making them ready for further digestion as the bacteria begin to activate. MICROCAT products may also contain natural penetrants which enable certain large, emi-water-soluble organic molecules to be more easily digested. Petroleum-based oils are largely insoluble in water. The penetrants wet deposits of these substances on the soil particles or in the groundwater making them more available to the bacteria for decomposition. Other products provide nutrients, buffers and surfactants which may be necessary for specific applications to provide a suitable environment for the microbes to grow and degrade the contaminants.
